A 260-km-long new railway line will be laid in Rajasthan, directly benefiting these districts

Rajasthan - Indian Railways has approved a plan to lay a new railway line in Rajasthan. Approval for the final location survey for this proposed railway line has been issued, and a budget of ₹6.50 crore has also been approved. Let's find out which districts will benefit from this in the news below.

News, Digital Desk- ( Rajasthan) Indian Railways has given the green light to a plan to lay a new railway line from Khajuwala to Jaisalmer on the country's western border.

Approval for the final location survey for this proposed railway line has been issued, and a budget of ₹6.50 crore has also been approved.

This project is considered extremely important strategically, socially, and economically. Surveys for this rail section will begin soon. The construction of the rail line will boost tourism and business, providing employment to local people and better facilities to tourists.

Border areas will get direct rail connectivity-

The proposed 260-kilometer-long Khajuwala-Jaisalmer railway line will provide direct rail connectivity from Sri Ganganagar to Bhuj in Gujarat via Jaisalmer.

Previously, surveys have been completed between Anupgarh, Bikaner, and Khajuwala. The approval of the new route will strengthen the backbone of the rail network in the western border belt.

The railway line will be strategically important.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has been pushing for a road project connecting Khajuwala to Jaisalmer and Bikaner. He believes this road will be strategically important, facilitating the movement of border security forces.

Furthermore, it will open up new opportunities for industrial investment and employment. Khajuwala MLA Dr. Vishwanath Meghwal expressed his gratitude to the central government for approving this survey.

The train will come here for the first time.

Thousands of people in towns like Khajuwala, Chhatargarh, and Anupgarh remain completely cut off from rail connectivity. Being 100 kilometers away from the district headquarters, they rely on private buses for transportation.

The new rail line will provide direct access to these rural areas, making it easier for travelers to travel to Phalodi, Ramdevra, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.

Strategic steps for national security

Following Operation Sindoor, the rapid movement of transportation and military resources to India's western borders has become a priority.

The Anupgarh-Khajuwala-Jaisalmer rail link will ensure rapid and seamless movement to border areas, which could prove useful in addressing any future challenges.

Rajasthan's role in remapping the rail network

Railway restructuring work is currently underway in Rajasthan's western border areas. Following the Bikaner-Sriganganagar-Anupgarh line, the Khajuwala-Jaisalmer Link is now set to add a major expansion to the state's rail map.

Possible districts through which this railway line may pass are-

Bikaner District-

Khajuwala is located in this district, hence the railway line will start from here.

Sri Ganganagar District-

Some part may also touch Sriganganagar district.

Barmer and Jaisalmer districts-

The people of Barmer and Jaisalmer districts will also benefit from the railway line.

Why can the Khajuwala-Jaisalmer rail line be important?

  1. - Connecting areas near the India-Pakistan border from a strategic point of view.
  2. - Promotion of tourism (easy connectivity to Jaisalmer)
  3. - Better option for movement of crops and other goods.
