Govardhan Asrani Death: Asrani's full name is Govardhan Asrani. He was born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In a career spanning over 50 years, he appeared in over 350 films in Hindi, Gujarati, and other Indian languages. 

 

Asrani became famous for his comic character, the jailer, in "Sholay," whose dialogue, "Hum Angrezne ke zamaane ke jailer hain!", has been remembered for five decades for this iconic role, which was inspired by Adolf Hitler's expressions and speaking style.

Asrani began his career in Bollywood after running away from home because his family wanted him to pursue a government job. 

Asrani attended St. Xavier's School and graduated from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. To support his education, he also worked as a voice artist for All India Radio.

Asrani twice won the Filmfare Award in the Best Comic category, for "Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar" (1974) and "Balika Vadhu" (1977). He was a close friend of Rajesh Khanna and often co-starred with him. Between 1972 and 1991, they worked together in more than 25 films.

Asrani also directed six films between 1974 and 1997, one of which was a Gujarati film in which the famous song "Who Ahmedabad No Rickshawalaan" was filmed on him.

While shooting for films, he fell in love with actress Manju Bansal and they worked together in many films like "Namak Haram", "Tapasya" and "Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar".

Asrani's roles ranged from comic to supporting and even lead roles, and he received praise for his natural comic timing and natural acting.
