India vs Australia 1st ODI Result: Team India suffered a defeat in the first ODI against Australia. The first match of the three-match ODI series was played at Optus Stadium in Perth, where the Australians won by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Mitchell Marsh played a superb captaincy innings in the chase. Meanwhile, the Indian batsmen completely disappointed in this match. Rain also proved to be a major obstacle.
Team India suffered heavy losses due to rain
Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. Due to continuous rain at Perth ground, the match between the two teams was played for 26-26 overs. Batting first, Team India scored 136 runs on the board by losing 9 wickets in 26 overs.
KL Rahul scored the highest 38 runs, in which he hit 2 fours and 2 sixes. Akshar Patel contributed 31 runs. In the end, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored unbeaten 19 runs in 11 balls with the help of 2 sixes. Whereas, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer were out early.
Australian bowlers wreaked havoc with the ball
Australia's bowlers left Team India in a spot of bother after they batted first. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood wreaked havoc with the new ball. Nathan Ellis then bowled brilliantly.
Kuhnemann also bowled a good spell of spin. Hazlewood, Owen, and Kuhnemann each took two wickets, while Starc and Ellis each took one wicket.
Mitchell Marsh single-handedly led Australia to victory
The target of 137 runs was reduced to 131 via the DLS method. However, the Australian innings started poorly, with Arshdeep Singh dismissing Travis Head in the second over.
However, captain Mitchell Marsh remained unfazed at one end and continued to attack the Indian bowlers. Marsh scored an unbeaten 46 off 52 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes. Josh Philippe also contributed 37 runs with the bat.
Indian fast bowling looked lacklustre against Australia
India's fast bowlers didn't perform as well as Australia's bowlers did with the new ball. Mohammed Siraj conceded 21 runs in his four overs and went wicketless.
Harshit Rana conceded 27 runs in his four overs. Arshdeep Singh, meanwhile, took one wicket but didn't look very impressive. He conceded 31 runs in his five overs. In spin, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar each took one wicket.
