Diwali 2025 Shubh Muhurat: This year, Kartik Amavasya will begin on October 20th at 3:44 PM and end on October 21st at 5:55 PM. 

Due to the absence of Amavasya on the night of October 21st, worship will not be possible during the stable Leo ascendant and Mahanishith period.

At what time will Rahukaal start on Diwali?

Rahukaal will be from 7:50 am to 9:15 am on Diwali, October 20. Do not perform any auspicious work during this inauspicious time.

Auspicious time for Diwali puja?

There will be three auspicious times for the joint worship of Lakshmi and Ganesha on Diwali. The first auspicious time will be during Pradosh Kaal, from 5:46 PM to 8:18 PM. 

Alternatively, you can also worship during Vrishabha Kaal, from 7:08 PM to 9:03 PM. This time is also considered extremely auspicious.

The best time for Lakshmi and Ganesha puja on Diwali is from 7:08 PM to 8:18 PM. During this time, you will have approximately 1 hour and 11 minutes for the puja.

Diwali 2025 Puja Vidhi

For Diwali puja, first set up a paat (a seat) in the east or northeast corner. Spread a red or pink cloth on the paat. Place an idol of Lord Ganesha on it, and to his right, place an idol of Goddess Lakshmi. Next, sit on a seat, sprinkle water around yourself, and begin the puja with a resolution.

First, light a single-faced ghee lamp. Then, offer flowers, sweets, and other worship materials to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. Afterward, chant mantras dedicated to Lord Ganesha and then Goddess Lakshmi. After the puja is complete, perform aarti and blow the conch shell.

Before lighting lamps at home, place five lamps on a plate and worship them. Then, begin lighting them in different parts of the house. Wear red, yellow, or brightly colored clothing during Diwali puja, and avoid black, brown, or blue.
