Expressway news today

News (New Expressway) New expressways are being built in many parts of the country. A new greenfield expressway is soon to be built, and land acquisition for this project is underway in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Let's explore the news to find out where this greenfield expressway will be built and which cities it will connect.

From where to where will this expressway be built?

After the contract is awarded to GR Infra for the proposed 88.4-km-long greenfield expressway between Gwalior and Agra (Gwalior Agra Greenfield Expressway) at a cost of Rs 4,263 crore, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) now has to acquire land for the construction.

To expedite the acquisition process, approval for compensation distribution of ₹220 crore has been received. Land will be acquired for this project in a total of 100 villages, including 14 villages in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district, 30 villages in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, and the districts of Morena and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

Priority will be given to the repair of the four-lane highway

Following this, work on the New Greenfield Expressway will begin in November. Although farmers have raised objections regarding compensation distribution, NHAI officials claim these will be resolved. This project will include a six-lane road spanning 88,400 km between Gwalior and Rajasthan.

Two-pronged preparations are underway to build the expressway (Greenfield Expressway Updates). The company now has to arrange funds for the construction work within six months, while on the other hand, NHAI has to provide the land. Under this project, the company will have to prioritize the repair of the existing Gwalior-Agra four-lane highway.

You will reach Agra from Gwalior in less time

The company will need to revitalize this entire highway so that vehicles traveling directly from Gwalior to Agra can use the expressway (expressway updates). Vehicles traveling to Morena and Dholpur will be able to use the four-lane road. The company will currently be given only one year to repair the highway, meaning it will have to complete the repair work by November 2026.

All permissions have been obtained

NHAI has obtained all permissions from government agencies for the construction of this new expressway. Work has accelerated after receiving permission from the Railways, Environment, Pollution Control, Forest Departments, and the Revenue Departments of all three states. Now, only the process of acquiring private land remains. Since the funds have been approved for NHAI, the compensation distribution process will begin.
