The entire process will be videographed. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. The family's decision came after a 31-member committee, formed on the Chief Minister's instructions, justified the government's action and appealed for peace.

Government action and committee satisfaction

The administration's decision to send DGP Shatrughan Kapoor on leave appeared to satisfy the 31-member committee investigating the Y. Puran Kumar case.

The committee stated that the government had taken a step in the right direction and that this was necessary for a fair investigation of the entire matter. The committee appealed to the protesting organizations and members of the community to maintain peace and restraint.

Family's eight-day protest ends, police file court application

Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amneet P. Kumar, and their daughters initially refused to agree to a post-mortem. They stated that they would not conduct the post-mortem until DGP Shatrughan Kapoor and Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia were arrested.

The standoff continued for eight days, after which the Chandigarh police filed a petition in court seeking guidance for the family. The court directed the family's cooperation on Wednesday, ending the standoff.

The suicide of the investigating officer and ASI further complicates the case.

Following the death of IPS Puran Kumar, ASI Sandeep Lathar of the Rohtak Cyber Cell, who was investigating the case, also committed suicide.

He left a three-page suicide note and a video message in which he made serious allegations against Puran Kumar. The suicide note stated that Puran Kumar was involved in corruption and influenced the system by exploiting casteism. This incident has created a stir within the entire police department, and the case has taken a new turn.

Puran Kumar's last note and laptop investigation

Puran Kumar left behind a detailed suicide note and digital records before his suicide, which are currently part of the police investigation.

Chandigarh Police have also sought permission from the court to seize the family's laptop, where the deceased officer is said to have written his last messages. The investigating agency says this digital evidence will help clarify the circumstances of the suicide.
