The process of land acquisition for the proposed new railway line in the district has been expedited. The Railways has sent a letter to the Railway Department to expedite the land acquisition process in the five villages of the second phase:
Deurwa, Jungle Joria, Alhadiya Mahdeva, Gopalpur and Kamariya Khurd. This letter demands the issuance of a gazette for these villages. The gazette is expected to be issued by next week. After this, the process of land acquisition in these villages will be moved forward.
Proposed electric rail line
According to the information released, a 52.70-kilometer electric rail line is proposed in the district. The rail line will run from Ghughuli to Anand Nagar Junction via Maharajganj. The estimated cost of this project will be approximately ₹958 crore.
This new rail line will pass through 52 villages in the district and connect Ghughuli Railway Station to Maharajganj and Anand Nagar Junction. The construction of the new rail line will not only facilitate travel but also boost the local economy.
New employment opportunities will be available
This will create new employment opportunities and boost business activities in the region. A total of 194 hectares of land will be acquired for the project.
So far, the land acquisition process has been completed in 29 villages. Compensation of ₹438.95 crore has been paid to affected farmers. The remaining amount will soon be deposited into farmers' accounts.
Gazette notice issued in five villages
Under the second phase of the project, a gazette notification is expected to be issued in five villages. Farmers and local residents there are expressing mixed feelings about the project. People consider the railway line a new gateway to development.
The completion of this railway project will not only provide better facilities to passengers but will also facilitate freight transportation. Local products will also gain access to larger markets. This will benefit farmers and traders.
The survey work will be completed
The Railway Department's section engineer stated that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure timely completion of this project. Work has already begun on the 24.8-kilometer rail line from Ghughuli to Maharajganj. The relevant agency will conduct drone surveys to map the rail route.
