Contract teachers serving in Haryana's universities will now enjoy job security until retirement age. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, during a meeting with representatives of the University Contracted Teachers Association (HUKTA) in Delhi, assured them that the services of contracted university teachers, like those of college teachers, will be secure. A bill is planned for this purpose in the upcoming winter session of the state assembly.

HUKTA President Dr. Vijay Malik and other officials informed the Chief Minister that approximately 1,400 contract assistant professors have been working in government universities for years, and legislation is urgently needed to protect their services.

They demanded that the necessary action be expedited in the winter session on this matter, which has been pending since last year.

The Chief Minister informed that the Higher Education Department is collecting data on contract teachers at all universities. Based on this information, employment guarantees will soon be provided, including service security.

He also stated that contract professors at universities will be given the same service security as extension lecturers in colleges, allowing them to continue their work in the field of education without hesitation.

Additionally, Dr. Vijay Malik stated that the report of the high-level committee, formed with the Chief Minister's approval, has been sent to the Education Department.

The department also has the mandatory information provided by university registrars, which will expedite the bill drafting process.

This provision of service security for contract teachers will prove beneficial for the higher education sector and will eliminate job worries among teachers and motivate them to provide better education.
